(fourth year students)

This four-week elective is open to fourth-year medical students going into Family Medicine from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school.

  • June 30 - July 25, 2025: outpatient only

  • July 28 - August 22, 2025: outpatient only

  • August 25 - September 19, 2025: outpatient only

  • September 22 - October 17, 2025: outpatient only

  • October 20 - November 14, 2025: combination of outpatient and inpatient

  • November 17 - December 12, 2025: combination of outpatient and inpatient

  • December 15, 2024 - January 19, 2025: combination of outpatient and inpatient

Course Goals & Objectives

  • Develop skills to multi-task and prioritize patient care.

  • Learn to diagnose and manage chronic and acute conditions.

  • Improve ability to assess undifferentiated patients.

  • Obtain problem-focused history and physical examination,

  • Present history and physical in a concise & orderly manner.

  • Develop an appropriate differential diagnosis.

  • Interpret results of common diagnostics and tests.

  • Develop an evaluation and management plan.

  • Perform basic procedural skills.

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients and staff.

  • Medical Students must submit their application in its entirety through VSLO. Our program can be found under Kaiser SCAL – San Diego.

  • Applications accepted as of March 1, 2025.

family medicine clerkship

(third year students)

This four week clerkship is open to all third year medical students from an an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school.

Clerkships are offered February - June.
